A Meshtastic network covering North New Jersey and beyond. 

The Forest-Edge Mesh Network is an off grid primarily solar powered "text message" network.   The system uses the LoRA protocol which stands for "Long Range" and is generally low powered 'inexpensive' devices.    The Forest-Edge network is a network of "repeaters" placed in highly advantageous locations.   The rest of the network is built by users of Meshtastic,   The Forest-Edge repeaters have connected others locations outside of just North New Jersey, We have reliable communications into the Catskills, Northeast PA, the Lower Hudson Valley, and more. 



The Forest-Edge Mesh in an effort to grow the Mesh & help each other partners with:

  • Hudson Valley Mesh

Network Configuration

As of July 1st 2025, we're using the following settings:


Modem Preset:  LONG_FAST

Frequency Slot:  20

Hop Limit:  7

Forest-Edge does have a "private" channel for those who want to help grow the network and are active in the discord.   If you'd like to take advantage of our Store&Forward system and more, please let us know in the Discord 



As of August 2025 The Forest-Edge Channel has the following Services:
*Store & Forward(similar to an answering machine, missed messages on the channel can be retrieved when you are in range of the network)

*Weather Service (provides multiple options for checking the weather as well as automatically broadcasts NOAA alerts on the channel)

*Meshtastic to Discord Bot - Anything sent on the Forest-Edge channel will be redirected to the Discord in the 'discord to mesh' channel.  This also allows sending messages to the Forest-Edge channel from discord.
